Lesson 5: Why are resilience, positivity, motivation and confidence important in job searches?
Choose the true and false statements below:
You may secure the first apprenticeship you apply for because you have written a winning application or because the right role came up at the right time. But for most people it takes time and they will need to stay positive and apply for many roles and not let rejection get them down.
You don’t want to find and apply for 100s of positions, because you don’t have the time to send that many applications off. It is much better to be specific and find jobs that match your skills and you are more likely to secure an interview for as this is more likely to build your confidence.
Although it is false that “if you believe you will get offered the job then you will”, by believing in yourself then you will come across more confidently at the interview. Just make sure you get the right balance of confidence and not arrogance!
It’s OK to feel disappointed that you haven’t got a role. Don’t beat yourself up about feeling frustrated or sad. Know yourself and what works best to help you get back to a positive mindset and do these things, but that will take some time. You may also get offered a role that just isn’t right for you. This is a two way process to you have a choice too!
