Lesson 1: What are interviews?
An interview is a conversation between two or more people with a view for the organisation to be able to check a candidate’s suitability for the role while the candidate is able to assess whether the role and organisation is right for them.
The objectives of an interview are:
- To evaluate the candidate’s suitability.
- To gain additional information from the candidate.
- To provide general information about the organisation to the candidate.
- To create a good image of the company to candidates.
It is an effective tool for selection. It is two-way communication where the information flows in both directions. In this way, the hirer learns about the candidate and the candidate gets a chance to know about the employer.
