What is your role at the college & how can you support the students?
I work within the student support team, including careers. I mainly work with level 3 students but will see anyone who falls within my remit. I support the careers program and often go into classrooms to talk about next step options, choosing universities and courses, student finance and signing up to UCAS. I will also do one to one’s with students supporting applications, personal statements and next step options.
What has been your career journey & what did you study?
I studied A level English, History and Economics. I Worked at Poole Borough Council for two years in the Housing and Environmental Health department and then went on to study at the University of Greenwich, and achieved a 2:1 Degree in BSc(Hons) Environmental Health, during my time there I also gained work experience at Eastbourne Borough Council. I then went on to work at Weymouth Borough Council as an Environmental Health Officer. I briefly lived in Saudia Arabia, (fun fact) for two years with my husband. After having had my family, I went on to work at a local primary school as a dinner lady and then at Weymouth College as a support assistant.
What is a fun fact about you?
I like to do cross stitch and I also go pottery painting where I decorate pre made items of pottery.
