Breakaway Support Community
Use the below link to access the Reddit support community for estranged people. Open to any estranged people who need advice or guidance regardless of where they are at in their estrangement journey. This community is closely moderated to ensure no estranged parents can participate and that a safe environment is maintained.

The film centers around Laura who is a student at university, but has no relationship with her parents and gets no support from them – financial or otherwise. Laura found that it can be a challenge for students like her to get the student finance, external they are entitled to.
Latest figures show there are over 9,300 students across the country who are considered to be estranged from their parents and according to research by the Stand Alone, external charity, they are three times more likely to drop out of university than the average student.

This guide has been created by the charity Stand Alone. It provides students with the information on how their Student Finance application is assessed as an estranged student. It will also tell them about the supporting documents they will need to send to confirm their irreconcilable estrangement from their family.

Chances for Children Grant
Grant available through the charity Buttle UK. An individually tailored grant of up to £2,400 for children and young people who have experienced a crisis that has recently had a significant and enduring impact on their wellbeing and educational engagement.
