On Tuesday, 22nd October, our team delivered a variety of workshops at Livingstone Academy in Bournemouth for the school’s year 9 and 10 students. Across the day, our team delivered employability and career-based workshops for the year 10s, including Know Yourself; Get Career Ready, What Makes You Employable, and CV Writing and Interview Skills.
These workshops help explain the transition from year 11 into further education and help get the students thinking about their next steps into the world of work. During these sessions, the year 10 students began to think more deeply about their skillset and how they can showcase these in a professional way. They also began to identify key aspects in their personalities and interests which could lead to different educational and career pathways.
They year 9 students enjoyed our Research Your Options and Vocational Pathways workshops. These workshops help the students to begin making informed decisions about their future through providing an overview on the different pathways they can take and gives them the tools to start conducting their own research into future options, such as colleges, apprenticeships and careers.
The team had a fantastic day working with the Livingstone staff and students, who fully engaged with and enjoyed the workshops. The team was delighted to hear back from the Livingstone staff on how they felt the day went. They said, “Our students gained so much knowledge and insight from the day, and both students and staff have been overwhelmingly complimentary about the quality of the sessions and the way they were delivered. It was truly a highly successful day, and we are hopeful to collaborate with you again for similar initiatives in the future.”
Soon our team will be back at Livingstone in January to pilot our new Empower Programme, in partnership with the Dorset Boys Hub. We can’t wait to work with Livingstone again on this upcoming project.
