HSDC South Downs Campus

Grace Wentworth

SUN Progression Mentor at HSDC South Downs Campus

What is your role at the college & how can you support the students?

My specialism lies in mentoring and supporting young people with additional educational needs and those facing barriers to education or employment. With a background in youth work, I’m passionate about helping individuals realise their potential, gain confidence, and move toward meaningful next steps in learning or work.

What has been your career journey & what did you study?

My degree was in Childhood, Youth & Society. I really enjoyed meeting new people and I valued the opportunity to take part in work placements that helped me apply what I was learning in practical settings. I worked for 2 years before applying to go to university as I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go when I first finished college. It’s good to know opportunities can open up at various points in our lives! I’d recommend to anyone considering going to university to go to their open days as it really helped me get a feel for different courses and campuses.

What is a fun fact about you?

I’m fluent in Spanish and am a huge fan of whodunnits — I can never resist trying to solve the mystery before the final chapter!
