What is your role at the college & how can you support the students?
I can offer one to one sessions with students on university application, career choices, starting work, gap years and apprenticeships. I also deliver presentations in tutorials on degree apprenticeships and organise guest speaker events.
What has been your career journey & what did you study?
My first degree was in English literature. What I enjoyed most about uni was making friends and having freedom. I then spent most of my working life as a TEFL teacher. Many years later I did an M.Sc in Heritage and Museum Studies, in order to work at the National Trust, where I was a conservation assistant. Then at the age of 59 I decided to have one last career, so I took a PG Cert in Careers Guidance and have so far enjoyed four wonderful years working in careers advice. It’s never too late to have a new career!
What is a fun fact about you?
I love to study the Italian language as I lived there for 5 years in my twenties.
