‘Work experience focus’ Campus Visit Day

This year we’re introducing a brand-new twist on our traditional Campus Visit Day. While our usual visits showcase student life, this new event shines a spotlight on the university as a workplace. With a focus on work experience, students will discover the wide range of professional services that keep a university running, meet staff from across departments, and explore career pathways beyond the classroom.

What will happen on the visit?

Our new Campus Visit Day will be different from the traditional programme you may have experienced before. The day will focus on work experience and give you the chance to see the university as an employer. You’ll meet staff from a range of professional services, explore the different roles that keep a university running, and get a behind-the-scenes look at career pathways beyond the classroom.

Who is it for?

YEAR GROUP: Suitable for Years 9-10

You can bring a group of up to 30 students for this visit. Students who attend this event should fall into at least one of the following categories:

• Uni Connect students*

• Students from Armed Forces/ military families

• Students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

• Care-experienced students

• Students who are young carers

• Students estranged from their families

• Students from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities

• Students who are refugees

*Uni Connect students are defined as young people who reside in low higher education participation areas. These students will be identified in your SPoC Activity Report. If you do not have access to a SPoC Activity Report, please get in touch with sun@soton.ac.uk.

Further Information

This event is completely free of charge and we may be able to support travel costs. If this is required, please include details in your booking form (e.g. mode of transport and rough cost) and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Refreshments for students will not be included so please ensure students have eaten before attending the event and/or bring their own refreshments. Please note that places are limited and completing the booking form does not confirm your place. We will respond to your application as soon as possible to let you know if it has been successful.
