Pre-16 Apprenticeships: Applications and Knowledge

This new CPD session is aimed to help you increase your knowledge of apprenticeships and help you in applying your knowledge when advising a student. The session is delivered by the SUN team virtually and shares information and guidance on apprenticeships from Level 2 through to degree apprenticeships.

What will the session cover?

This online interactive session will help you to:


Understand what an apprenticeship is and how it is different from other streams of education


Know the different apprenticeship levels and equivalent qualifications


Understand the application process and be able to help a student through their application journey 


Hear about the progression opportunities through apprenticeships


See examples of available apprenticeships and the regional opportunities available to students

During the session, you will be signposted to sites that can help you when working with a student interested in applying to an apprenticeship for further information.

Who is it for?

This CPD session will be suitable for all staff working in secondary schools and colleges, including those in SLT roles, pastoral roles, teaching and non-teaching staff. It will also be suitable for staff who work across the education sector, for example, those in higher education, Local Authority or charity roles that would like to further their knowledge about apprenticeships.
