In 2017, The SUN’s very own Pete Thompson ran an incredible 44 marathons in 44 European countries in 44 consecutive days. A marathon within every country in Europe. A year later he set his sights on one of the most famous endurance tests in the world, the 2018 Tour de France. With a seven week head start on the riders, Pete set off aiming to beat them to the finish line by running (not cycling) the entire Tour de France route in just 70 days. He succeeded running over 30 miles a day for 68 days, covering 2,069 miles and running up the equivalent of Mount Everest over 5 times. These epic feats of endurance & adventure have raised over £50,000 for the 3 mental health charities he supports.
Pete has talked at many schools and businesses as well as a recent TEDx talk. His talks are designed to show how his experiences and challenges can help your students. Talking with freedom, humility and humour about how he went from crying in a Ugandan Orphanage, to running a marathon in every country in Europe in consecutive days. His talks cover topics such as resilience, motivation, mental health & adventure.
YEAR GROUP: Suitable for Year 9 – 13
All talks are free and can be integrated into your school day. Direct donations to Mind, Dorset Mind or Livability Holton Lee (the charities Pete supported on his challenges) are welcomed.
