What will the session cover?

The Manosphere is a network of online men’s communities promoting anti- feminist and sexist beliefs encouraging resentment, misogyny, hatred or even violence towards women and girls, as well as potential links to extremist groups and ideologies.

Recently, there has been an increase in support for misogynistic influencers and content encouraging misogyny online. During this session, Dal Sohal, Prevent Community Engagement Officer for Leeds Prevent, will talk about this emerging threat and provide an overview of the Manosphere with links to extremist ideologies. The session will provide guidance on how to tackle this concern, and a post-session training pack will be sent to anyone attending.

Who is the presenter of this session?

Our Expert speaker, Dalveer Sohal, is a Prevent education support officer. They work for Leeds Prevent, an organisation that supports people who are at risk of radicalisation and prevents them from being drawn into extremist behaviour. Leeds Prevent offer both face to face and online training to support communities and specified authorities, including schools, to meet their safeguarding duties around Prevent.

Who is it for?

This session will be suitable for all staff working in an education setting, including those in SLT roles, pastoral roles, teaching and non-teaching staff. It will also be suitable for staff who work across the education sector, for example, those in higher education, Local Authority or charity roles that would like to further their knowledge.
