This introductory session is brought to you by the Southern Universities Network, following some collaborative work with The Children's Society. Learn how to identify and support young carers in schools through this accredited online training session.

What will the session cover?

This online interactive session will help you to:

  • Understand the term young carer and the legislation relating to young carers
  • Consider the caring responsibilities which young carers undertake and the possible impacts of these
  • Be informed about the potential identifiers of young carers
  • Understand factors which may make a young carer ‘hidden’
  • Develop an awareness of how to identify and support young carers in school

Who is it for?

This CPD session will be suitable for all staff working in secondary schools, including those in SLT roles, pastoral roles, teaching and non-teaching staff. It will also be suitable for staff who work across the education sector, for example, those in further and higher education, local authority, or charity roles.
