SUN Progression Mentor at Bournemouth & Poole College
What is your role at the college & how can you support the students?
I am the SUN Progression Mentor at Bournemouth and Poole College, and I support students who are estranged, care experienced, a young carer, are from a military service family, or who receive Free College Meals. I am based within the Student Experience and Careers Team and provide support to enable students to progress onto their chosen level 4 study and career pathway.
What has been your career journey & what did you study?
I was the first in my family to go to university and studied BA (Hons) Media and Fine Art and MA Creative and Media Education. I taught English Language, Media and Communication to international students for over ten years and then moved into a more support-focused role because I enjoy mentoring people and helping them to find their path in life.
