We’ve included links to organisations who offer support for parents/carers of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. As well as information about the educational pathways that are available for SEND young people when they leave school or education at 16.

The Disabled Students Helpline provides information and advice to disabled students/apprentices, parents and/or carers and professionals. They can give information about applying to college, university and apprenticeships, accessing financial assistance and lots more!

Disability Rights UK has a range of resources & information including factsheets, a jargon buster and presentations of past Disability Rights UK events, training and stories.

This website is part of Disability Rights UK’s Right to Participate project, funded by the Legal Education Foundation. The project aims to increase awareness of the Equality Act, especially the ways it can protect disabled people from discrimination in everyday situations.

The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Services (SENDIASS) offer information, advice and support for parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Find your local SENDIASS by following the below link.

The Access to Work scheme can help people get into, or stay in work if they have a physical or mental health condition or disability. The support provided is dependent on the individuals needs. Visit the gov.uk website using the link below to find out more about the eligibility criteria, and the support that’s available.
