What is Campus Explorer?
Navigating an FE or HE college can be difficult and a bit overwhelming if you have never had experience of this before. Consideration of the type of lifestyle and campus a student might want, is equally important for students as knowing the course they want to study. CampusExplorer enables students to find out more about campus life, facilities available on a university campus, and to get a feel for what it’s like to be a university student.
How will it help your students?
During the session participants will learn how to navigate the Campus Explorer website, and have a greater understanding of what a campus might look like and what facilities are available to them. Students will have the chance to design their ‘dream campus’ and in doing so will be able to answer some questions about campus life and what it’s like to be a student. Through participation in this session students will gain greater understanding of FE and HE institutions, and know how to navigate a campus, which in turn will develop confidence to visit real life campuses for themselves.
Key information relating to campus facilities, services and support, and views expressed by current students relating to all aspects of university life and student living etc. is found on an online ‘sample campus’, which students can navigate online. Students can make and store notes in an online notebook. This will be saved to allow the student to return to these notes after the workshop, extending their learning beyond the initial session.
