WHEN IS IT?

who is it for?

Suitable for all staff within secondary schools, including schools with Sixth Forms. This CPD may be of particular interest to those who work in SLT, to staff with careers or pastoral responsibilities, and to classroom teachers. Anybody who works within a school is welcome to attend.

what will it cover?

Challenge your unconscious bias in the classroom and develop strategies to challenge and reflect on unconscious bias in yourself and those around you.

In two interactive training sessions, Baasit will cover:

  1. What unconscious bias is and what it is not
  2. Types and examples of unconscious bias within a school setting
  3. Supporting you to develop a greater awareness of your own unconscious biases and how these influence your decisions, actions and behaviour in your work with young people
  4. Identifying possible consequences/ impact of unconscious bias on staff and students in an education setting
  5. Supporting you to know how to respond to instances of unconscious bias when you witness it in yourself and others.

You will also receive a toolkit of practical resources to support you with tackling unconscious bias within your school setting.

Baasit is the managing director of Siddiqui Education Ltd. With ten years of teaching experience and a unique journey as one of the ‘Siddiqui’s’ on the BAFTA and NTA award-winning television show ‘Gogglebox’, he aims to educate, motivate and build aspirations of school children across the nation.

As a former head of department, he has witnessed the changes and challenges facing state schools over the last decade. As such, Baasit is committed to giving students a unique and inspiring educational experience – one which helps develop a whole host of vital transferable skills as students progress through their educational and employability journey.

Throughout his time as an educator, teacher trainer and business owner, Baasit has developed his skill set and built a strong foundation of support from collaborators, equally as dedicated to supporting disadvantaged students. His strategies for supporting students aim to help them achieve their goals – and now he is committed to sharing them, along with his experience and expertise, with educational and business professionals as part of Siddiqui Education Ltd.
