SUN Short Talks
We are excited to offer a range of online short talks, encompassing short presentations that can be delivered to a large number of students. They are all free, delivered by certified SUN facilitators, and can be integrated into your existing assembly timetable and tutor times.
HOW LONG ARE THE SESSIONS?
Approximately 20 minutes delivery followed by 5 minutes for questions and answers.
HOW WILL THEY BE DELIVERED?
Our SUN assemblies are delivered virtually through either Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
The short talk will be live-streamed to one or multiple screens and delivered by SUN staff, but will require school staff member to facilitate.

PRE-16 SHORT TALK OFFER FOR YEARS 9-11
The Introduction to T Levels short talk aims to provide students with an overview of the new Technical Level qualification and aims to inform students that T Levels are a new level 3 career-focused (vocational) alternative to A Levels.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOUR STUDENTS?:
- Introduction to T Levels and what they are.
- Understand T Level roll-out and where they sit within the qualification system.
- Learn about the structure of a T Level including Industry Placements.
- Explore what their choices are and know where to go for further support.

The Discover Your Options short talk aims to provide students with information about the different options and qualifications available after GCSEs (and beyond). This session will help students better understand their options and support those who are unsure what to do next.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOUR STUDENTS?:
- Encourages students to start thinking about their future and what’s important to them
- Explores the differences between Level 2, 3 and 4 qualifications
- Learn more about further education, apprenticeships and higher education

The Prepare for the Fair is a short talk which aims to help students prepare for and get the most out of a careers fair. It introduces what a careers fair is, who will be at a fair, and how to prepare beforehand. This session aims to get students thinking about their future options and prepare questions for the institutions, providers, and employers who attend these events.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOUR STUDENTS?:
- Understand what a careers fair is
- Learn about who attends a careers fair and how they can support students
- To help students to think about their future choices and pathways

POST-16 short talk OFFER FOR YEARS 12-13
The Discover Your Options short talk aims to provide students with information about the different options and qualifications available post-18 (and beyond). This session will help students better understand their higher education options (level 4+) and support those who are unsure what to do next.

- Encouraging students to consider their next steps and what’s important to them
- Exploring the range of options at Level 4 and beyond
- Learning more about higher education, higher/degree apprenticeships

Prepare for the Open Day is an short talk which aims to help students prepare for and get the most out of an open day. It introduces what to expect on an open day and how best to prepare for it. This session aims to get students thinking and encourages them to do prior research about their future options. It also supports students to prepare questions for the institution/s they are visiting.
