Year 12 Residential

The Southern Universities Network (SUN) will be running a Year 12 residential, hosted at the University of Portsmouth between Wednesday 4 July and Friday 6 July 2018. On this residential participants will find out what it’s like to be a university student through a variety of talks, workshops and social activities. Participants will have the opportunity to stay overnight in student halls of residence, visit another local university and talk to current Student Ambassadors about their higher education experiencesThe focus of the programme will be to support participants in making successful transitions to Year 13 and beyond.

Please note the SUN Year 12 residential opportunities at the University of Portsmouth and Southampton Solent University follow a similar programme. Students are invited to apply for one or both events if they wish.


All aspects of the SUN Year 12 Residential, including accommodation, catering and transport, are offered entirely free of charge and paid for by the Southern Universities Network.

Travel will be fully funded and paid for by the SUN. Successful applicants will be sent further information nearer the time of the event.


This residential is open to students who have studied a level 2 or level 3 qualification at a school/college or 6th form in the 2017/18 academic year.

Places are limited and will be offered to students that meet our eligibility criteria on a first come first served basis.

Please note due to the nature of the funding, this opportunity is only available to students domiciled in NCOP defined target wards. Your school/college's SUN Single Point of Contact will be able to identify these individuals.

We will ask all successful applicants to complete a confidential medical form in order to ensure safety during the residential. Participants will not be permitted to attend the residential without having completed and returned this document with parent/carer consent.
