Introduction to Supporting Estranged Students

This introductory online workshop will set you up with an understanding of estrangement, the barriers that students face and what support is available for estranged students entering into university. This CPD has been created in collaboration with Stand Alone and the Uni Connect Estranged and Kinship Students Partnership.

The event will run virtually.

What will the session cover?

This online interactive session will help you to:

  • Understand the term estranged and who estranged students are
  • Gain an awareness of the barriers and disruption estranged students can face in education
  • Develop an awareness of how to support estranged students in college and with progressing into university

Who is it for?

This event is suitable for all Education and Youth Practitioners who are working with students over the age of 16. This includes youth workers, local authorities, teachers, tutors, admissions staff, outreach staff, Uni Connect staff, and third-party organisations who support young people applying to university.

Further Information

During the session, you will be signposted to Stand Alone, UCAS, Student Finance England, and further organisations and resources to support your work with estranged students.

This CPD has achieved certified accreditation status by The CPD Certification Service and can therefore count towards any CPD hours you’re working towards.
